In a dramatic turn of events, Julian Assange, the founder of the whistleblower website WikiLeaks, has agreed to plead guilty to a single felony count of illegally obtaining classified information. The plea came after years of legal wrangling and a lengthy extradition battle to the United States.
On Wednesday, Assange appeared before a US judge and entered the guilty plea. He admitted to conspiring with former US Army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning to obtain and publish classified documents from the US Department of Defense.
