JJ Redick to Become Head Coach of the Los Angeles Lakers

The Former NBA Player and ESPN NBA Analyst Signs Four-Year Deal

Seven weeks after firing Darvin Ham, the Los Angeles Lakers have found their new head coach in former NBA player and ESPN NBA analyst JJ Redick.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Redick has agreed to a four-year contract to become the head coach of the Lakers, one of the NBA's most storied franchises. Redick, 39, retired from the NBA in 2021 after 15 seasons, during which he was a two-time All-Star and won an NBA championship with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011.

Since retiring, Redick has worked as an NBA analyst for ESPN, where he has provided insightful commentary and analysis on the league. He is known for his sharp basketball mind and his ability to communicate complex concepts in a relatable way.

Redick's hiring is a departure from the Lakers' recent coaching search, which focused on more experienced candidates. However, Redick's strong basketball IQ, leadership qualities, and ability to connect with players make him a promising choice for the Lakers, who are looking to rebound from a disappointing season.
